Signs You Need to Contact a Mineola, NY AC Repair Contractor

Days at the beach, splashing in the pool, visits from the ice cream man, chasing lightning bugs, family vacations, and just slowing down and taking the time to appreciate the little things in life; there really is nothing better than the summer.

While there’s no denying that summer is one of the most wonderful times of the year, there is one major downside: heat and humidity. When the temperature and dew point starts to rise, things can get rather uncomfortable – and even potentially dangerous – pretty quickly, but fortunately, you have a central air conditioner to keep your Nassau County home cool and comfortable. Unfortunately, however, like any other system, a central air conditioning unit can experience problems that can reduce its efficiency, and when that happens, your comfort and safety can be negatively affected.

By paying attention to your central air conditioning system and knowing the signs that indicate trouble, you’ll be able to contact an AC repair professional and avoid discomfort. Here’s a look at some of the telltale signs that indicate it’s time to schedule an appointment with a Mineola, NY air conditioner repair company.

Hot Air

Hot air is the most obvious sign that you need to call an AC repair professional. Obviously, when it’s functioning properly, an HVAC system produces cool air; however, if the air coming out of the vents in your Nassau County home feels warm rather than cool, well, you should schedule an appointment with a Mineola, NY air conditioner repair company.

Poor Airflow

Poor airflow is another sign that you need AC repair services. If the air coming out of your vents seems weak or you can’t feel any air at all, cool air won’t circulate through your Nassau County home and conditions will get hot and sticky quite quickly. An experienced Mineola, NY air conditioner repair professional will be able to identify and fix the cause of the problem.

Strange Sounds

Mineola, NY

While an HVAC system does make some noise when it’s functioning properly, generally, that sound is minimal and blends into the background. If, however, you notice any unusual sounds coming from the system – banging, clunking, whirring, or screeching, for example – shut the system off and call a Mineola, NY air conditioner repair company. Those strange noises could be linked to a variety of issues, from a loose part to a damaged component.

Odd Odors

Do you notice strange scents coming out of your central AC’s air vents and traveling throughout your Nassau County home? If it’s a musty odor, that could be a sign of mold growth in the vents or somewhere else in the system. If it’s an electrical smell, you might have an issue with an electrical component. As soon as you smell any odd odors coming from your central air conditioner, turn the system off and call an AC repair technician. A licensed Mineola, NY air conditioner repair technician will detect and correct the source of the problem.

Some information about Mineola, NY

Mineola is a village in and the county seat of Nassau County, Long Island, New York, United States. The population was 18,799 at the 2010 census. The name is derived from an Algonquin Chief, Miniolagamika, which means ‘pleasant village’.

The central, flat, grassy part of Long Island was originally named ‘Hempstead Plains’. In the 19th century, various communities were started. One of them was called ‘Hempstead Branch’, and finally, ‘Mineola’.

Long Island was part of Henry Hudson’s original claim in the name of the Dutch East India Company dating as far back as 1609. In the 18th century, the Dutch and English settlers worked to clear farmland to start their life on the Hempstead Plains. It was in 1858 when this land was named after an Algonquin Indian Chief, Miniolagamika meaning, ‘Pleasant Village’. The name was later shortened and altered to ‘Mineola’.

From about 1787 until the 1870s, the area was the county seat for Queens County, in a section then known as Clowesville, just outside the present village boundaries. The western portion of Queens became a borough of New York City in 1898, and in 1899 Nassau County was formed from the part of Queens that did not so consolidate. Voters selected Mineola (in the Town of North Hempstead) to be the county seat for the new county of Nassau in November 1898(before Mineola incorporated as a village in 1906 and set its boundaries), winning out over Hicksville and Hempstead. The Garden City Company (founded in 1893 by the heirs of Alexander Turney Stewart)donated four acres of land for the county buildings just south of the Mineola train station and the present day Village of Mineola, in the Town of Hempstead.
