Top Reasons to Hire a Plainview, NY Air Conditioning Repair Service

When the heat and humidity start to rise, you depend on your HVAC system to keep your Nassau County home cool and your family comfortable and safe. With regular use, age, and routine wear-and-tear, however, just like any other appliance, a central AC unit can develop issues and breakdown. Components can become loose, electrical wires can malfunction, vents can become clogged, and a variety of other problems can occur that can reduce the efficiency and the cooling capacity of a central air conditioner.

If you’re having problems with your central AC unit and you’re the handy type, you might be thinking about trying to tackle the job yourself. While that’s certainly commendable, and while there’s no doubt that there are a lot of projects around your Nassau County house that you can do yourself, it’s important to realize that some jobs are best left to the professionals, and Plainview, NY air conditioner repair is one of those jobs.

If your Nassau County cooling system is acting up, rather than trying to do the job yourself, here’s a look at some great reasons why hiring a professional air conditioning repair service is highly recommended.

Experience

An HVAC system is a complex system that consists of a variety of components that work together to remove humidity and produce cool air, thus keeping your Nassau County home comfortable. Unless you have been properly trained and have previous experience, trying to figure out which part(s) are causing the issues you’re experiencing and how to make the necessary repairs can be extremely challenging. In fact, rather than fixing the problem, you could end up doing more harm than good.

To ensure the job is done the right way the first time around, hiring an air conditioning repair service is essential. A licensed Plainview, NY air conditioner repair technician will have completed the professional training that’s needed to perform a thorough assessment, properly identify the issue, and make the repairs that are necessary to restore the function of the system – and the comfort of your Nassau County home.

Increased Safety

At first glance, repairing an HVAC system might seem pretty simple; however, in reality, it can actually be quite challenging. A variety of tools, equipment, and supplies need to be used – some of which can be heavy and awkward to handle – and you might need to get into compact areas. You may also need to interact with electrical components, which can be a hazard on its own. Unless you’ve had the training that’s necessary and have hands-on experience, there’s a serious chance that you could end up injuring yourself or someone else, or that you could damage your Nassau County property.

To ensure your safety, hiring a Plainview, NY air conditioner repair company is definitely the way to go. An air conditioning repair service technician will have ample knowledge and experience, and they’ll employ the appropriate techniques and strategies to ensure their safety – and the safety of your home.

Cost Savings

Like a lot of Nassau County homeowners, you might be under the assumption that DIY air conditioning repair will cost less than hiring a professional; however, in the end, doing the work yourself could actually end up costing more than hiring an air conditioning repair service.

When you calculate the cost of all the tools and equipment that you’ll need and combine that with any issues that may arise, such as property damages or physical injuries and the associated medical care or repairs that would be required, DIY central air conditioning repair can cost a pretty penny. Because a reputable Plainview, NY air conditioner repair contractor will have ample knowledge and experience, and because they will charge a fair and affordable price, you’ll actually save more when you hire a pro than you would if you were to attempt the project yourself.

Some information about Plainview, NY

Plainview is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) located near the North Shore of Long Island in the town of Oyster Bay in Nassau County, New York, United States. The population of the CDP as of 2010 was 26,217. The Plainview post office has the ZIP code 11803.

Plainview’s origins date to 1648, when Robert Williams, a settler from Wales, bought land in the area. The land was considered desirable for farming because of a small pond named the Moscopas by local Native Americans, meaning ‘hole of dirt and water’. The remainder of the land in the area was purchased by Thomas Powell in 1695 as part of the Bethpage Purchase. The name ‘Mannatto Hill’ had already appeared on the 1695 deed of the Bethpage Purchase, and the settlement came to be called ‘Manetto Hill’. Manitou was the Native American word either for ‘god’ or for ‘spirit’.

The 1837 arrival of the Long Island Rail Road to nearby Hicksville brought a boom to local farming. In 1885, residents of Manetto Hill petitioned the United States Postal Service for a local post office, but were turned down because, according to several accounts, a similar name was already in use upstate. The hamlet was then named ‘Plainview’, for the view of the Hempstead Plains from the top of the Manetto Hills.

Plainview remained a farming community, famous for growing cucumbers for the huge Heinz pickle factories located in nearby Farmingdale and Hicksville. In the early 1900s blight destroyed the cucumber crop and many farmers switched to potatoes. After World War II, a potato blight combined with the desire of many returning GIs to leave New York City for the more rural Long Island, convinced many farmers to sell their property, leading to massive development in the area, giving rise to so-called suburban sprawl. Between 1950 and 1960, the hamlet grew from a population of 1,155 to more than 35,000. Most of the available land was developed during this period or otherwise designated as parkland. While overall development declined it did continue sporadically as smaller remaining parcels of land were also developed. In recent years, some of the few large remaining parcels have given way to gated communities, which are in contrast to most housing in the area. Some of these developments include ‘The Hamlet on Olde Oyster Bay’ and ‘The Seasons at Plainview’, a residential community focused on over age 55 residents and first time home buyers.
