4 Key Questions to Ask Brookville, NY AC Companies

Is your existing HVAC system acting up or has it exceeded its life expectancy and needs to be replaced? Do you want to install a ductless air conditioner in your newly constructed Nassau County house? Whatever your particular situation may be, if you’re in of the services of a Brookville, NY air conditioner repair, replacement, and installation company, you’re going to want to hire the most reliable contractor possible. But how do you do that? By interviewing several different AC companies and asking some key questions before you decide which one to hire.

To help you decide which Brookville, NY air conditioner repair and installation company to hire, here’s a look at some key questions to ask the AC companies during the interview process. The answers to these questions will help you determine which company will best suit your needs.

Are you licensed and insured?

First and foremost, you’re going to want to make sure that the AC companies that you’re considering hiring are fully licensed and insured. Heating and cooling companies have to be licensed and insured to provide services in Nassau County. Plus, licensing confirms that the HVAC contractors are professionally trained and that they adhere to and employ the most cutting-edge techniques and strategies. Furthermore, insurance protects you from having to pay for any unexpected expenses in the event that something goes wrong; your property is damaged or a technician sustains an injury, for example.

Don’t just ask AC companies if they’re licensed and insured; ask to see proof and confirm the validity of both. A reputable Brookville, NY air conditioner repair company will be more than happy to share this information with you.

How long have you been in business?

Brookville, NY

Sure, there’s a chance that newly established AC companies could provide reliable results; however, when it comes to something as important as cooling your Nassau County home, you really don’t want to leave anything to chance. That said, hiring a Brookville, NY air conditioner repair and installation company is highly recommended. Ideally, you should choose a company that’s been in business for at least a few years, because the longer they’ve been in business, the more experience they’ll have, and they’ll bring that experience to your project.

What kind of services do you provide?

Don’t just assume that all AC companies offer the same services. Some might provide HVAC installation, while others might specialize in AC repair services only. It goes without saying that you want to make sure you choose a Brookville, NY air conditioner repair professional that offers the specific AC services you require, so be sure to inquire before you decide which company to hire.

Do you have references I can contact?

You can tell a lot about the services AC companies provide from the past clients they’ve served, so be sure to ask each HVAC contractor you speak with if they can provide you with a list of references. Take the time to reach out to a few of the contacts on their list and ask about the services they hired the company to perform and if they were satisfied with the results. A credible Brookville, NY air conditioner repair and maintenance professional will gladly provide a list of references. If any of the companies you speak with won’t honor your request, consider that a warning sign and proceed with caution, or better yet, cross them off your list.

Some information about Brookville, NY

Brookville is a village located within the Town of Oyster Bay in Nassau County, on Long Island, in New York, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the village population was 3,465.

The geographic Village of Brookville was formed in two stages. When the village was incorporated in 1931, it consisted of a long, narrow tract of land that was centered along Cedar Swamp Road (Route 107). In the 1950s, the northern portion of the unincorporated area then known as Wheatley Hills was annexed and incorporated into the village, approximately doubling the village’s area to its present 2,650 acres (1,070 ha).

When the town of Oyster Bay purchased what is now Brookville from the Matinecocks in the mid-17th century, the area was known as Suco’s Wigwam. Most pioneers were English, many of them Quakers. They were soon joined by Dutch settlers from western Long Island, who called the surrounding area Wolver Hollow, apparently because wolves gathered at spring-fed Shoo Brook to drink. For most of the 19th century, the village was called Tappentown after a prominent family. Brookville became the preferred name after the Civil War and was used on 1873 maps.

Brookville’s two centuries as a farm and woodland backwater changed quickly in the early 20th century as wealthy New Yorkers built lavish mansions. By the mid-1920s, there were 22 estates, part of the emergence of Nassau’s North Shore Gold Coast. One was Broadhollow, the 108-acre (0.44 km2) spread of attorney-banker-diplomat Winthrop W. Aldrich, which had a 40-room manor house. The second owner of Broadhollow was Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilt Jr., who was owner of the Belmont and Pimlico racetracks. Marjorie Merriweather Post, daughter of cereal creator Charles William Post, and her husband Edward Francis Hutton, the famous financier, built a lavish 70-room mansion on 178 acres (0.72 km2) called Hillwood.
